Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
Only patients with booked appointments are allowed to enter Green Lane Medical Cantre.
DO NOT come to surgery without a prior appointment, you will not be seen by clinical staff.
TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT:
Call the surgery on 0151 228 9101, your query will be handled by a clinician. Please note we are no longer offering an extended hours service.
To minimise risk to our staff we are encouraging all patients to use our online prescription service. Note we have now suspended the previous requirement for you to attend surgery to in order to register for electronic prescriptions. Please call surgery on 0151 228 9101 and we shall issue you with the necessary code.
alternatively, post your request in the box outside Surgery.
Are you housebound? Please telephone us on 0151 228 9101 for advice.
TO REQUEST AN E-CONSULT:
Why not consider using our e-consultation for administrative requests, results, advice or for self-help information from a doctor? Advice is generally given by next working day.
IF YOU SUSPECT YOU HAVE CORONAVIRUS:
STAY AT HOME for 7 days if you have either:
- a high temperature – you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
- a new, continuous cough – this means you've started coughing repeatedly
- DO NOT go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital
- you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home
- your condition gets worse
- your symptoms do not get better after 7 days
- Only call 111 if you cannot get help online.
You can book a face to face appointment up to 4 weeks in advance with a doctor by telephone or by calling into the surgery.
We also have the facility to book appointments online via the above link. Please telephone the surgery for details.
We will always try to offer you an appointment on the day you request but it may not always be possible.
Patients who wish to be seen on the same day will be triaged by a doctor. This means that the receptionist will take your details and a doctor will telephone you back within two hours. During this telephone call the doctor will assess the patient’s needs and, if required, agree a mutually convenient time for you to attend at the surgery.
Patients can also book a telephone consultation in advance if that is preferable.
We are releasing appointments every morning with all GPs to enable patients who want to be seen on the morning they require an appointment.
In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with our nurse practitioner rather than a doctor.
Nurse practitioners are qualified to deal with many conditions and you may be seen more quickly.
If you would like a chaperone present during your consultation, please advise the receptionist when booking your appointment.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
We are currently receiving roughly 167 missed appointments per month. This is a concern to us as this is the equivalent of 13 doctor’s surgeries that we could otherwise offer to other people.
We have therefore introduced a text messaging service which will remind you of your appointment if we have a mobile phone number recorded for you 24 hours before. Can you please make sure we have up to date contact details for yourself or if you would not like to receive these messages then let us know.
