Your Medical Record

Your medical record overview

Your personal medical record is important.

Sharing of medical records is an important part of improving healthcare in an increasingly complex world.

It is important to be aware of how you can view and amend your own personal data and understand how and why it is shared with other organisations.

How to view your medical record

The first step to take is register to use your NHS Account.

The entire registration process (including proving your identity) is done online with no need to go to your GP surgery.

You can also access your NHS account via the NHS App and use it on your smartphone or tablet.

Accessing your NHS account

Once registered, your NHS account allows you to do a number of things including:-

  • get your NHS COVID Pass
  • order repeat prescriptions and change your nominated pharmacy
  • book and manage appointments
  • get health information and advice
  • view your health record securely
  • view your NHS number

There are a number of other third-party apps that you can use to interact with your GP surgery but not all of these are compatible with the NHS logon.

Accessing someone else’s information

As a parent, family member or carer, you may be able to access services for someone else. We call this having proxy access. We can set this up for you if you are both registered with us.

To requests proxy access:

  • fill in our admin request form
  • collect a proxy access form from reception from 10am to 6pm

Find your NHS number

You do not need to know your NHS number to use NHS services, but it can be useful to have it. You may need it to give to a Pharmacy so they can find your Electronic Prescription.
